Teleflex Medical OEM was granted a standard patent by the Hong Kong Patent Registry. Patent No. HK1088258 covers a coreless braid design constructed of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). This proprietary braid configuration is the key technology for Teleflex Medical OEM’s Force Fiber® Suture.
“This coreless braid design is what makes Force Fiber® Suture a one-of-a-kind product,” said Debra Masso, General Manager, Performance Fibers for Teleflex Medical OEM. “Unlike other sutures in the marketplace, our suture has a lower knot profile. It will compress during the tying process. This provides tighter knot security. A surgeon may tie fewer knots when using Force Fiber® Suture.”
According to tests, Force Fiber® Suture significantly outperforms polyblend suture of comparable size for straight tensile and knot tensile strength. The round suture is also flexible, nonabrasive, and has a silk-like feel that is gentle on tissue and gloves.
The Force Fiber® Suture product line includes a wide range of USP sizes; patterns, including cross and stripe; and a wide selection of solids and multi-colored sutures, including blue, white, green, white/blue, green/white, white/black and white/green. The suture can also be custom-configured to meet the requirements of many unique applications, or incorporated into an anchor or driver.
